Benefits of Dea Sea Salt for your Skin!

Posted on

The Dead Sea salt scrub is a skin exfoliant made of salt crystals from the Dead Sea, a body of water renowned for its healing, mineral infused waters. The Dead Sea or "Sea of Salt" is a salt lake bordered by Jordan to the east and Israel and Palestine to the west. Its surface and shores are 1,407 feet below sea level, earth's lowest elevation on land.

The Dead Sea contains so much salt, no living creature can survive in it. This sea water's contains 27% salt compared to the 3% found in other seas. The sea’s salt is also different from other sea salt.

Although the sea itself may be unwelcoming, its salts have been harvested and used for thousands of years. Over 2,000 years ago, the Roman Historian Flavius wrote that Dead Sea salt “heals the human body and is therefore used in many medicines.” Often referred to as a “salt glow,” a salt scrub stimulates the skin, muscles and nerves, cleanses the pores and improves the texture of dull, bumpy and tired skin. Extensive scientific research has been performed to prove the efficacy of Dead Sea salt for treating skin problems such as dry skin and psoriasis.

Other benefits include:

Use of sea salt scrubs result in exfoliation of dead skin cells, that form the upper layer of the skin.

Aging causes thickening of the dead skin layer. Salt scrubs exfoliate this layer and bring out layers of younger-looking skin.

They improve blood circulation in the skin. Increased blood flow regenerates skin cells and gives a natural glow to the skin.

Salt scrubs are known to have antiseptic properties. They are capable of killing skin infection-causing bacteria thereby, relieving pain, inflammation and itching associated with the infection.

When applied on skin in circular motions, these scrubs remove toxins that have a deteriorating effect on the skin.

Exfoliation promotes growth of new, healthy cells. New cells that are generated, tighten the skin surface, thereby, reducing wrinkles.

Minerals present in Dead Sea salts like bromine, sodium, magnesium, potassium, and calcium are absorbed while scrubbing, will help in nourishing the skin.

Oils incorporated in the salt scrub, polish the skin by minimizing the abrasive effect of scrubbing.

Massaging with a scrub containing essential oils not only improves the quality of skin, but also provides relaxation. A professional spa therapist can make the overall experience very relaxing for a customer
